K24 news anchor Betty Kyallo travelled to West Pokot county this week to film the latest installment of her 'UpClose' series.

West Pokot Governor Prof. John Lonyangapuo was the latest guest on the show which offers viewers a behind-the-scenes look at a typical day in the lives of various famous and prominent personalities.

Taking to Twitter, Kyallo revealed that she had come back with a new name given to her by Lonyangapuo and the people of West Pokot.

"My new Pokot name. Asis Sotin Cheporwala (Sun) given by the people and the good governor J.K Lonyangapuo. Good morning," she tweeted.

The UpClose episode on West Pokot will air on Friday evening as part of prime-time 'Weekend With Betty' from 9 PM.

Lonyangapuo is one of Kenya's most popular governors largely due to hilarious speeches that have seen him consistently deliver quality meme content for Kenyans online.

Betty's move to K24 from KTN has proved a shot in the arm for the Mediamax-owned station with their weekend news shows posting improved ratings.

Upclose in particular has become quite popular among Kenyans and also does great numbers on online platforms such as YouTube.
