DJ Joe Mfalme is the unlikely face behind Kenya's newest viral Tik Tok trend.

The DJ, one of the country's most sought-after, is known for his popular mixes which typically feature the biggest hits of the day across different genres.

Since his big break when he won the 2008 Pilsner Mfalme competition, the man has been celebrated for his ability to effortlessly scratch and mash up different tunes.

Not everyone, however, seems to be enjoying the scratches if Tik Tok is anything to go by.

A bit from one of his mixes in which he incessantly scratches over Mejja and Femi One's 2020 banger Utawezana is the soundtrack for the trend, which involves criticism of Kenyan DJs and their scratching habits.

As part of the trend, fans are excited to hear the song and start dancing and singing along only to grow disillusioned as Mfalme keeps scratching over it.

His famous tagline, 'Your girlfriend's favorite DJ', is the icing on the cake.

Jokingly reacting on Twitter, Mfalme promised on Tuesday, January 5 that he would leave the scratches in 2020.

"Naskia huko Tiktok nimekosea watu wengi sana... In 2021 I will ni longer be scratching," he wrote.
