Fans of hit-making gengetone group Ethic woke up on Saturday to find the group's latest music video Tarimbo pulled down from Youtube.

The link to the video simply brought up this message: "The video has been removed for violating Youtube's policy on nudity or sexual content".

The video had a few thousand views left to hit one million views.

It sparked controversy upon release as various people called out the group over 'rapey lyrics' contained in the chorus.

"Mi huchapa chapa na nakanyaga namwaga bila hata permission," went the controversial hook.

While their supporters argued that the chorus was open to interpretation, other Kenyans such as rapper Xtatic blasted the group for encouraging rape culture.

Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) boss Ezekiel Mutua also wrote to Google seeking to have the song pulled down.

He went as far as to call for the group's members to be arrested.

Two days ago, Ethic issued an apology asserting that it was not their intention to trigger anyone.

"...for any person that was triggered to a displeasing memory or emotion by it, receive our sincere apologies.

"Rest assured that no disrespect was intended," the group wrote on Twitter.
