Standard Group on Tuesday formally launched two new radio stations; Spice FM and Vybez Radio.
The media giant made a huge splash on the two stations with a focus on modern multi-format broadcasting and a star line-up of presenters.
Frequencies
Vybz Radio is available in Nairobi (104.5), Mombasa (98.7), Meru (107.1), North Rift (106.1) and Nyeri (98.8).
Spice Radio is available in Nairobi (104.4)
Vybez Radio plays reggae and roots while Spice FM plays soul.
In addition to Swahili station Radio Maisha, Standard Group now has three major radio brands under its umbrella.
Shows
Vybez Radio went for known figures in the local media and entertainment scene to work as presenters on various shows.
Among those brought on board are legendary artist Nazizi (Evening), prominent reggae DJ and event organizer ZJ Heno (Mid-morning), music producer Ras Riddiq (Evening), digital strategist Brian Mbunde (Morning) and dance/fitness pro Chiki Kuruka (Drive).
As for Spice FM which appeals to an older, more mature crowd; a number of reputable media personalities were enlisted.
They include reporter Eric Latiff, Political communications expert Njeri Thorne, Communications Consultant Ndu Okoh and scholar Charles Muga. They will host a programme called 'Situation Room'.
Others on the station are wildly popular comedian Eric Omondi as well as Emmanuel Kisiangani and Barbara M'mbaka who will host the show 'Adults in The Room'.
