Rapper, model and social media star Jeremy Maina aka Lil Maina teams up with fellow social media sensation Wizzo Tano Nane to declare death on fake Jordans on Umbwakni.
The single is basically a remix of Fantasia's RnB classic When I see you, with Maina hopping on an international trend of flipping RnB classics to make rap hits such as Foolio's When I see You and Yungeen Ace and Spinabenz' Who I Smoke (a remix of Vanessa Carlton's A Thousand Miles).
Umbwakni samples Wizzo Tano Nane's famous clip in which he went after popular shoe seller Nairobi West Niccur accusing him of wearing and selling fake Air Jordans (Jordan mbwakni), and gifting former Prime Minister Raila Odinga a pair of the fake shoes when they met.
In the part of the clip sampled on Umbwakni, Wizzo threatens that they won't vote for him (Raila) in the 2022 Presidential election for wearing fake Jordans.
The video of a funeral service for the fake Jordans is directed by Omoke. It stars yet another social media star (oh 2021) LimansBen, a close friend of Maina's.
Among those in attendance at the 'funeral' are Buruklyn Boyz Ajay and Mr. Right.
