A petition seeking to have Citizen TV's Friday night live music and dance show 10 Over 10 pulled from the airwaves is gathering steam.

Over 20,000 signatures have already been collected by the group which claims the show airs harmful pornographic content.

They expressed special concern with the impact the show might have on minors in the country.

According to organizers, the signatures will be delivered to Citizen TV's Royal Media Services (RMS) headquarters.

They took the protest a notch higher with placards and banners calling for the end of the show.

A coordinated online campaign also saw #End10Over10 end up as one of the major trending topics in Kenya on Wednesday.

Hosted by Willis Raburu, 10 Over 10 features an energetic, young studio audience which sings and dances along to various performers who appear on the show every week.

Many of the country's leading artists appear on the show particularly to promote new music.

The campaign to take the program off air is supported by Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) chair Ezekiel Mutua who maintains the show promotes indecency.

Whether Citizen management caves in to pressure to draw up a new strategy for the show remains to be seen.
