Popular mid-week comedy show Churchill Raw aired an emotional finale on Thursday, with NTV set to stop airing the program.

The 7:30 PM show ran for several years and is an off-shoot of Churchill Show, comedian Daniel Ndambuki's Sunday night program which delivers consistently high ratings.

The show was designed as a platform for young, emerging comedians unlike Churchill Show which featured an all-star line-up of the biggest names in comedy.

Churchill first took to social media to post images of some of the comedians who featured on Churchill Show before going out to become household names.

"Today we celebrate a journey, a journey of nothing but growth and transformation. The mid-week dose of laughter comes to an end today," he wrote.

Several of the country's biggest personalities in media and entertainment appeared on Churchill Raw early in their careers; including DJ Shiti, Mbusi, Sleepy David, Shix Kapienga and Jasper Murume.

The show featured many of the comedians who've gone on to make waves in radio, TV, music and comedy.

"It's been a journey and thanks for the support," an emotional Churchill stated.
