Chef Maliha Mohammed from Mombasa on Sunday broke the Guiness World Record for cooking after doing it for 75 hours non-stop.

She beat the previous world record held by American Rickey Lumpkin from California, at 68 hours 30 minutes, and 1 second.

The record secured global recognition and attention for the highly-talented Chef Maliha.

In partnership with Pwani Oils, the sponsors behind the ambitious project, Chef Maliha sought to showcase Kenyan and international cuisine, with an emphasis on Swahili dishes.

In a recent interview, she noted that her goal was not only to bring the record home to Kenya, but more so to Mombasa, the home of Swahili Cuisine.

“I am looking forward to breaking this world record and have been investing my own resources to bring this record home, and more so to Mombasa,” She noted.

The chef reportedly prepared 400 recipes to enable her to take on the challenge.

She also put together a team of 36 individuals working to break the record.

Maliha worked alongside 9 assistants at a time who took shifts.

Congratulations started flowing in soon after it was confirmed that she was the official Guiness World Record holder for longest non-stop cooking period.
